Mark's Boat

We spent the day on Marks boat on the Gulf of Alaska. It was a. Eautiful sunny day, Dad says about 18 degrees. Saw hump back whales and caught halibut and black bass.

Mark and I heading out of the harbour at Homer.

This is a small halibut (Mark threw him back).

This is sea weed.

See the jellyfish swimming.

Music in the park

This is the port at Kenai. It's 6-7 blocks from Lynice's place.

We went to see a chainsaw carver. This was one of his carvings, and he was working on an 8 foot rabbit!!!

We went to a farmers market - they have trucks with all different kinds of food, and lots of tents with everything from homemade deodorant and soaps,  salmon leather wallets and purses, and jewelry to clothing and purses. Lots of things to see!

In the same area there was music in the park. A 10 year old girl played electric guitar with a band for one song!

This is the Kenai River - see the boardwalk all along the bank.

We went to help Lynice pick up vegetables from a farm - look at the funny red sign (we don't rent pigs).

Touring around Kenai

Toured around Kenai today. Went out for lunch and tried lemonade with basil, rosemary and orchids in it!!  Mom said it was good.   Went to look at a car in front of a flea market called the Flea Market Emporium - funny name! 😃

These signs are all over the place. One says 189 moose killed since July 1!!

Got apple fritters from a bakery with another funny name......

Lynice liked them!!

Homer

Drove to Homer, which is at the southern tip of the Kenai peninsula. Big harbour there, and lots of tourist shops along a boardwalk on "the Spit", which is a long narrow strip of land that goes out into the ocean. Rained on the way there and back, but beautiful while we were there.

The boardwalk with all the little shops

At the coffee shop - cookie is mine, tea is moms.

Getting ready for BBQ

Busy day getting ready for the BBQ tomorrow. Hung pictures, fixed a few more things, cleaned, and cooked!!!  And just at the end of my day at 1015 pm, we saw a moose and her 2 calves walk by Kris and Lynice's place on the street - we just opend the front door and watched them stroll by!  Cool!

Pulled pork on the menu.

Helping Lynice and Kris

We've been busy doing odd jobs like fixing the garage door opener, changing the kitchen taps, painting a speaker, "welding" a plastic fridge drawer, etc. Few more things to do, we are getting ready for a big BBQ on Saturday with family and friends.  This is Lynice/Kris' house.

Dad and Kris working on kitchen taps.

Alaskan coffee drive-thru. Mom and Lynice like the lattes they make.

Fresh Morel mushrooms.  (Well, I didn't actually try them but everyone said they were really good - fried in butter with an egg and cracker coating).

Sleep in day

I slept in today - had a little trouble with my air mattress in the night and Lynice rescued me off the floor. I slept with Lynice, and stayed in bed after she went to work. Then Gaara came and stayed (in stealth mode) with me. 😃.

Anchorage

Cool, rainy day today. Went to Anchorage to help Lynice buy a sofa - mission accomplished!  Lots of mountains between Kenai and Anchorage. It's neat how the snow melts off the mountains, and where there were avalanches the snow is close to the road still.

Lynice and I in Anchorage.   We had Fathers Day lunch with Chuck and Sheri, Kris' family. Yummy Mexican food!,
Fun day!

Gaara and I

Today I took Gaara for a walk......and he ended up taking me for a walk!!  He pulled me along, mom just had to steer. It was very cool!  I tried a watermelon cantaloupe Italian soda with whipped cream (very good) and I looked after Gaara while Lynice ran into the store for milk.  I can't wait for Kristopher to see how well Gaara pulls me. 😊.

Might have worn him out though!

We're in Alaska!!

Really rough highway from Destruction Bay but... we crossed into Alaska yesterday.  Dad said it was a bad highway, but I told him it's not bad if it leads to Lynice.  Going through a construction area just past Tok and 2 moose ran across the road. Sorry about pica, all taken through the windshield.
See the moose!

Glenallen to Lynice!

Great day of travel, saw 3 grizzly bears (mom and 2 cubs) in the Tahneta Pass close to Glenallen. Stopped for pizza at Palmer. And the best part - got a hug from Lynice at her work in Soldotna.

Still lots of snow in the mountains.

Hopefully Kris will be home next week!!
